The Story

One Laptop.
One Question.

It started with a laptop and a love for music.

Back home in Iraq, there was a local sound system shop where a group of friends would gather just to hang out, talk, and listen to music. It became a second home. One day, the shop owner noticed something: "You've got all this music on your laptop, right?" A simple question — but it changed everything.

He invited me to play at a party as a DJ. I said yes, even though I had no idea what being a DJ actually meant. I just showed up with my laptop, "two speakers," and my music. That night, something clicked. I didn't just enjoy the music anymore — I felt it move people. And they felt it too.

From there, word started to spread. What began as a favor turned into bookings — parties, then weddings, all across Iraq. I was young, still learning, often nervous before every event, unsure if I was doing it "right." But every wedding taught me something new about rhythm, energy, and reading a room. Along the way, I also studied sound engineering, building a real technical foundation under the instinct — understanding not just what sounded good, but why. Slowly, the fear turned into confidence, and the confidence turned into a craft.

A New Country, A New Sound

When my family and I moved to Syria, I kept building — taking on weddings there and sharpening my skills in a new environment, with new audiences and new expectations.

Then came the biggest move of all: Houston, Texas.

This was the turning point — and I didn't walk into it alone. Maroun Sawma opened doors for me early on, sending gigs my way and connecting me to parties for well-known singers. Ahmed Al Basrawi was right there too, helping me find my footing in a brand-new city. Their support gave me the chances I needed to prove myself in a market I knew almost nothing about.

In Iraq and Syria, I had built everything around a laptop. In Houston, I stepped into a completely different world — professional mixers, real DJ equipment, and a much bigger, more diverse Arab community than I'd ever performed for before.

At first, I played the same styles that had always worked back home. But I quickly learned that Arab weddings in the U.S. weren't one thing — they were Iraqi, Syrian, Lebanese, Egyptian, Palestinian, Gulf, and more, each with its own music, its own traditions, its own energy. What worked for one crowd didn't always work for another.

So I went back to the drawing board. I rebuilt my entire music library from the ground up, studying and collecting the sounds, dabke rhythms, and styles of every Arab culture I could — not to master one style, but to be able to walk into any Arab wedding, from any background, and give people a night that felt like home. Even from thousands of miles away in Iraq, DJ Fanar stayed by my side through all of it — sending tracks, pointing me toward sounds I hadn't found on my own, and helping me shape that rebuilt library piece by piece until it could carry any wedding, anywhere. DJ Nimo lent his hand with remixes that pushed the sound even further.

From DJ to Full Production

As my sound grew, so did my ambition. I invested in my own professional sound systems and lighting rigs, and eventually built something bigger than just a DJ service — a full production company.

That company became Muzzica Productions — sound, lighting, sparks, smoke, and everything it takes to turn a room into an experience. I kept traveling across the states, DJing Arab weddings from coast to coast, but I was no longer just the person behind the booth. I was building atmospheres.

The Full Picture

The more weddings I worked, the more I found myself drawn into the planning itself — the timeline, the flow, the small details that make or break a night. I didn't just want to show up and play the last dance. I wanted to be there from the very first idea.

So I partnered with a wedding planner, and together we launched Sàza.muzzica — planning weddings from A to Z.

Today, between Muzzica Productions and Sàza.muzzica, we don't just DJ your wedding — we help build it, from the first conversation to the final dance.
